| Shell Deer Park Honored as Industry of the Year
More than 650 people “saluted” the Shell Deer Park refinery and chemical plant at the annual Salute to Industry banquet in Deer Park on Nov. 18, 2004. As “Industry of the Year,” Shell Deer Park was recognized for its 75 years of operations and support to the community.
Fran Keeth, president/CEO of Shell Chemical LP, accepted the key to the city and numerous proclamations on behalf of Shell Deer Park.
Keeth told the capacity crowd that the story of Shell Deer Park is one of technology, innovation, quality products, good jobs and being a good neighbor.
“It is about our top priorities of safety, health and environmental performance, and competing in a very challenging and increasingly global business climate. But, most of all, the story of Shell Deer Park is its people and partnerships. Good people working hard and making a difference. People like the active and retired employees seated at the Shell tables here today, who represent the thousands of Shell Deer Park workers since 1929.”
In September, Shell Deer Park hosted “Family Day” for current and past employees and their families at the Pasadena Convention Center. In addition, a 75th anniversary history book of the site was published and distributed to employees and retirees. Copies are available for public viewing at the Deer Park Public Library, 3009 Center Street. |
