A Message to the Community: Heavy Traffic During Maintenance Activity

Major projects and maintenance turnaround activities at Shell Deer Park will be
at a high level through March and to a lesser extent the remainder of 2001.

Over the next few months, the number of contract workers at the refinery and
chemical plant will peak at more than 3,000 a day.

Vehicle traffic on westbound State Highway 225 and the feeder road near Shell
Deer Park is noticeably more congested between 5 – 6:30 p.m. To help minimize
disruptions and delays, we have arranged for Harris County Sheriff’s Department
deputies to assist with traffic control.

Shell Deer Park is sensitive to the impact our operations can have on the
community, especially during projects and turnarounds. Should early morning
traffic near Shell become a problem, we will evaluate various options. As a
good neighbor, we will do the right thing.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during the expansion and upgrading
of Shell Deer Park .

If you have any questions about our facility, you can call an environmental
supervisor 24-hours-a-day at 713-246-7212, or community relations between 7:30
a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays at 713-246-6151.
